Some years back I was boarding a National Express coach to go to work in London and I saw a curious looking chap with a very long piece of luggage.
“What’s in that then?” I asked, expecting it to be a didjeridu, only to find out he was carrying something far more exciting.
“It’s a spear” he announced. It turned out the reason he was carrying a spear was that he is a Druid and a friendship ensued.
Kieron turned out to be an interesting friend and had put together an intimate self-transformational course which included a trip into the woods to hug trees and search for faeries.
Sadly I didn’t see any…
On another occasion I was invited to take part in the Lughnasadh festival in a remote location in the New Forest and Kieron took people on a faerie walk. I had long since discounted the idea of the existence of faeries and didn’t go. What amazed me was that people came back from the walk exhilarated having seen lights among the moonbeams which they had perceived as being evidence of the little folk’s existence. The bottom line is that Kieron simply believes in faeries and they are a part of his Universe. He gathers evidence and support for their existence whether I can see them or not.
I was reminded of this story earlier today by my daughter who was asking about belief and whether it was possible for her to attract a Unicorn using creative visualisation. She like others, is trying to come to grips with the latest version of “The Law Of Attraction” that is doing the rounds in the form of the film The Secret
For me, it is not ‘manifestation’ that brings things into my Universe, it is my subconscious super computer. What I hold in my belief system is reflected in the Universe and… it always ’shows up’ this way for me. What works for me is a logical explanation and I am not suggesting you follow my belief system. I am more from the “What the thinker thinks, the prover proves” school of thought than an “It’s a miracle, the Universe manifested it” devotee. God is dead and everything has already been manifested that ever will be. Time is an illusion and the simple fact that we only use five percent of our brain power is a reflection of what we currently know about the Universe.
For me, it is just a case of picking an area to focus on and my belief system will reflect what I am thinking by providing physical things to go along with that belief system. I’ll simply notice things that fall in line with my beliefs and discard the others. In other words, I am the all powerful being that is solely responsible for ‘creating’ my Universe and everything that is in it. I don’t have to answer to a God I can’t see. I guess if it ever gets too much for me to cope with on my own, I’ll look for evidence of the existence of a God and ask for help.
So how did I answer my daughter’s question?
I explained that it would be hard to hold a belief that there are Unicorns, in the face of the global majority who think that there are no Unicorns. I told her that in order for her to ‘manifest’ a Unicorn she would have to have unwavering belief that they existed and that she would then start gathering evidence of their existence.
Her World would probably start to look very different. Her quest would lead her to others in the World who also believed in their existence and they would undoubtedly have a common belief with reasoning that explained why laymen could not see Unicorns. There may be a level of enlightenment one needs to be able to see Unicorns. It may be that Unicornism involves taking part in certain ceremonies and practices, perhaps involving Ayahuasca style psychoactive infusions.
I also have no doubt that if she wanted to, she could make Unicornism a main stream religion and sway the global majority in a very short space of time.
We know that particularly driven people make their ideas reality. We currently live in a Universe whose parameters are dictated to us by science. We also live in a Universe where we rely on our limited perception to provide us with feedback – only human perception is like a narrow beam of light in a vast open space and we only comprehend a tiny part of what is really here.
