I totally agree.
Fusion is lightening fast compared to Parallels and takes up half the space (literally) it just cleaned up my virtual drive and saved me 8GB!!! I tried doing the same process in Parallels several times, it took ALL NIGHT to do it and the drive was bigger when it finished.
I suspect that Fusion handles RAM in a very different way too. I had 1GB assigned to Parallels and it was never really enough. I couldn't run any Mac programs reliably when I was using it and had to really think about how I was handling my shared work flow.
Fusion is currently running in 512MB on the same machine, using the same virtual drive and I can run all my audio stuff without any problems.
It's a whole new world - highly recommend

Fusion is a better product. It allowed me to set up a bootcamp partition (actually on a separate hard drive) then launch it through Fusion. That way, most of the time, I can run Fusion to get to Windows 7. But if I need the most CPU and want to strip right down to the hardware without emulation, I can restart into Win7. It's the best of both worlds.

Thanks for your comment Colin and I appreciate your feedback. It is not my intention to make Parallels look bad, I simply copy and pasted the transcript from customer support

I did not plan to do it, so if it is not Parallels who come out looking bad in your eyes, that is a reflection of the way you view life

I didn't plan the conversation and the decision to blog it shows up right there in the text

And yes, I shop around for the best deal, I am the customer!

To address your other points, I owned the software much less than five years

And, I was a beta tester for Parallels in 2008/2009

I don't want to buy Parallels all over again, I already own it remember, I simply want to upgrade it because if I upgrade my Mac, Parallels 3.0 will no longer work

So, I don't want Parallels to sell me a copy at a massive discount, I want to purchase an upgrade

Parallels already worked well for me, perhaps this is why I haven't felt the need to upgrade it

And, I think that was the point

The bottom line is, I am now using VMWare

Kind regards

Mark

I think in this conversation, it's not Parallels that come out looking bad. You've basically called up demanding Parallels give you their software at a price of your own choice, because you have a 5 year old version of their software that you haven't chosen to upgrade before. When the support guy tells you the price policy, you expect him to read up on ideas by a marketing blogger because that is more important than him being there supporting customers or making sales.

VMWare have made a cheap deal to try and entice customers away from Parallels over to them, and it's deliberately cheaper so people seriously consider moving. Seth Godin has ideas, not concrete rules on how business works. If Parallels think it isn't worth selling you the software at a massive discount, then maybe to them it just isn't worth it.

Try demos of both, if VMWare is better for you, go for that and it's a bonus that it's cheaper, if you prefer Parallels, decide if it's worth the difference and pay for that.

Perhaps you would be living in bliss in Scotland? Maybe there would be no Ystes?

Perhaps you would have had a moment of realisation that there is nothing to react to?

The files are different and the cleverness is in the audio not in the language used to describe it.

There is no pursuasive language happening here, I don't know enough about mind tricks or NLP to do that.

I know a thing or two about sound though :-)

My first instinct was the 1st is stereo but I cant put my finger on what makes it 'sound more stereo then the 2nd' so Its probably my perception being fooled right? and then the use of language.

once I had read...."Okay, here is a mono version of the same sound.

It is subtle isn’t it." I could not get it out of my head that there must be a subtle difference.....

I understand the concept. Imagining myself doing that feels a bit odd LOL. However, I would probably either be a quiet old woman who never spoke to anyone, or a salubrious witch doctor with a massive rock tied to the end of my penis and a cave full of peyote. Of course I would probably be anxious about having visions but who knows, 20,000 years is a long time to deal with something like that!

Imagine yourself having been born 20,000 years ago into a small tribe living on the north coast of Africa. Are you limitations still noticeable?
